Current challenges to the country's food supply

Abstract

The purpose of the article is to analyze current trends in the development of the agri-food sector of the economy, to identify the main challenges to the stable food supply of the country and to suggest promising directions for the food systems transformation in Ukraine. Research methods. In the process of research, a number of methods were used: abstract-logical - to formulate conclusions; comparative analysis - to compare indicators and identify trends in their change; statistical - in determining the variation in the volume and structure of exports of agri-food products; settlement and constructive - to determine the role of the agri-food sector in total Ukrainian exports; monographic - in assessing the current state and justifying the directions of development of the agrifood sector of the economy; graphic - to illustrate the identified forecast trends. Research results. A study of the dynamics of volumes and structural changes in exports of agri-food products from Ukraine, an increase in the share of product groups and analyzed the structural dynamic changes by type of food products. A comprehensive analysis of the main challenges to the country's food security was conducted. Priorities in the transformation of Ukraine's food systems by 2030 have been identified. Scientific novelty. Methodical and practical aspects of studying the main challenges to the country's food security and developing a promising national approach to the transformation of food systems have been further developed. Practical significance. These approaches and the results of the study can be used by public and sectoral authorities in the organization of analytical work and the development of measures for the transformation of food systems.
