Estimation of the price situation on the poultry market
The purpose of the article is to investigate the current price situation on the poultry market by different types of prices (selling, wholesale and retail) and regions of Ukraine. Research methods. The following methods were used in the research process: abstract and logical (for formulating conclusions); monograph (for detailing the price situation of the poultry meat market); benchmarking (for comparing indicators and identifying trends in their changes); statistical (for evaluating the poultry meat market); tabular (for visual representation of the research results); graphic (for identifying and illustrating trends of the research economic phenomena). Research results. Price situation on the poultry meat market was estimated taking into account price details of certain species in different areas of the country. The research revealed a clear tendency of annual increase in prices for poultry meat in Ukraine in the period between 2014 and 2018. The highest retail prices for carcasses of medium fattened chickens were in Donetsk and Odessa regions at the end of 2018. The minimum prices were observed in Chernihiv and Vinnytsia regions. Retail prices of poultry in Ukrainian supermarkets were equal to an average price level in the European Union. The most influential factors on price changes in the poultry meat market were identified. Based on the results obtained, it has been uncovered that, despite the rise in the price of poultry meat, its consumption is increasing in Ukraine. Elements of scientific novelty. Analytical estimates and determinants of an impact on the price situation of the poultry meat market were further developed. Demand for certain types of poultry and poultry meat, terms of sale and distribution channels, as well as supply of poultry meat are the main factors that influence a price level. Research results shows that demand for poultry meat will remain stable, as poultry meat is the cheapest among other types of meat. Practical significance. Research results can be useful for all participants of the food chain “production – processing – sale – consumption” of the poultry meat. Tabl.: 1. Figs.: 4. Refs.: 20
