Development of foreign trade of agro-food products
The purpose of the article is to investigate modern tendencies of Ukraine’s foreign trade and make a prognosis for further trade-economy cooperation development, as well as to define perspective sales markets for domestic agro-food products. Research methods. The research basis is systematic approach to assessing the course of events, that occurred on world agrofood products markets. Also, historical and analytical methods were used while forming and assessing analytical materials, as well as comparative method for evaluating the results. Research results. The research formulates author’s view on the modern process of development of foreign trade of agro-food products in Ukraine. Tendencies of foreign trade of agro-food products between counties were analyzed in the article. Main issues for further export volumes increase were defined and directions for future mutually beneficial cooperation, that provide economic advantages to Ukrainian producers, were substantiated. It was noted that Ukrainian agro-food producers have received certain advantages by becoming the WTO member. This contributed to an increase in the export of cereals, oil and seeds, as well as some other goods. Participation in the multilateral trading system has helped to consolidate Ukraine's status as a major global agricultural exporter, which plays a leading role in the global food security system. Ukrainian agricultural export positively affects the reduction of price fluctuations risks in foreign markets and allows increasing the living standards in the world poor countries, which also act as importers of agricultural products. Signing of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the European Union became a significant impetus for economic development which ensures functioning of the Free Trading Zone. The European Union is an extremely important trading partner to Ukraine. The Association Agreement has contributed to an increase in the trade volume with the European Union in the agricultural and food sector. The European Union became the main trading partner of Ukraine. For further development of the Ukrainian economy, a draft Strategy for Export of Agricultural Products, Food and Industry of Ukraine up to 2026 was prepared. This document is aimed at ensuring Ukraine's active presence in the world food market subject to strict compliance with the requirements for ensuring food security of the country. Considering this goal, the increase level of diversification of the commodity nomenclature of exports was proposed due to gradual export items increase, in particular finished food products, food additives and ingredients, inclusive and organic goods. Elements of scientific novelty. Scientific novelty of the research results lies in suggested directions for Ukrainian exports development and enlargement of mutually beneficial cooperation in the agrarian sector of economy. Practical significance. Proposed approaches can be used by government authorities when planning a future prognosis for balances of supply and demand on main agro-food products and conducting economic development forecast.
